Neben klassischen traditionellen Stücken finden sich in unserem Repertoire daher auch zeitgenössische Kompositionen sowie eigene Stücke and all that Jazz.

About dokyo
By end of 2026 the four of us – Kaori, Yohana, Sebastian, and Bernhard – founded the group “Dokyo” for Japanese drumming (called Wadaiko in Japan). All of us bring in a longterm experience in playing and performances acquired within other groups and various workshops in Germany and abroad including of course Japan. We aim for disseminating the art of Japanese drumming, in Western areas mainly known as “Taiko”, by means of concerts, presentations, workshops, and teaching. By this, we’ve chosen the name “Dokyo” deliberately. The kanji for “Do” applies to a large ceremonial place, often a shrine or a temple, where people congregate. The one for “Kyo” means echo. As that we, the taiko players come together with our drums and play in the echoing resonance with each other, with the space around us and with you, embedded in the rich and old tradition of Wadaiko.Wadaiko is lively and alive, not only with respect to our actual playing, but also with hindsight to its development within Japan and all around the world. Therefore, our repertoire contains besides of classic traditional pieces also tempory composition as well as own pieces and all that jazz.
